Social Services Intern

Nye Health Services, a family-owned company that has been recognized nationally for our care, service, and culture, is seeking a social services intern for our Gateway Vista campus located in Lincoln, NE. Our social services team supports residents who have special health care needs and medical conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide case management services to medically and behaviorally complex residents.
  • Working with residents, you will use critical thinking and motivational skills to elicit information to help identify potential areas of risk
  • Contact enrolled residents to conduct health risk surveys and/or BIMS (Brief Interview for Mental Status)
  • Work with team members and social services partners to address or de-escalate resident issues
  • Assist social work team with admissions and assessments related to admissions

 

Education, Skills, & Experience

  • Current college student with sophomore status or greater, or recent graduate. Potential majors include criminal justice, human services, psychology, sociology, social work, or another related field. 
  • Flexible scheduling offered, but a 15+ hour per week commitment preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion
  • Must be self-motivated and able to effectively work independently
  • Have leadership experience. Examples may include: project leadership, workplace responsibilities, active roles in student/social organization activities, or sports
  • Have internship, volunteer, or work experience in related fields such as clinical or community service organizations
  • Some travel between facility locations may be required
