Public Affairs Intern
NKE Strategies is a Sacramento-based boutique public affairs firm specializing in strategic communications, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement. We partner with clients across various sectors to deliver impactful campaigns that drive meaningful change.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our team for the summer. This internship offers hands-on experience in public affairs, providing an opportunity to contribute to real-world projects and develop professional skills in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities would include but are not limited to:
- Assist in drafting press releases, fact sheets, and client communications.
- Conduct research on policy issues, stakeholders, and media landscapes.
- Monitor news outlets and compile daily media clips relevant to client interests.
- Support the planning and execution of public events and community outreach initiatives.
- Manage and update media lists and contact databases.
- Contribute to social media content creation and scheduling.
- Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions.
Qualifications include:
- Current undergraduate or graduate student in Political Science, Communications, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
- Interest in public affairs, government relations, and strategic communications.
- Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Knowledge of California's political landscape and legislative processes.
