FELLOW/INTERN:
JOB FUNCTION: This “on-the-job learning” fellowship position assists a high energy, motivated professional services team that helps public agencies, private organizations and individuals build public support for ballot measures, strategic initiatives, campaigns and causes. Specifically, our CliffordMoss (CM) Fellows provide administrative, logistical and creative support to our team and clients. The Cliffordmoss work environment is dynamic, fast-paced, and fun! Interns report to client project advisors and lead strategists on assigned projects while receiving training and coaching from CM staff and overall supervision from CliffordMoss principals and team leaders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS - Fellow responsibilities include a mix of:
1. PROJECT SUPPORT. Support CliffordMoss project leaders driving CliffordMoss client projects, including: analyzing/summarizing background information/research, proofing brochures/mailers/online communications and other written materials, completing basic data input and analysis, social media assignments, administrative and logistical tasks, and other support duties as assigned.
2. WORK PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT. Build/customize/proof client tools, including: PowerPoint presentations, training and development packets, public engagement plans, campaign plans, direct mail, online content, voter contact scripts, related client tools and more.
3. CAMPAIGN OPERATIONS ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT. Help project leaders implement/manage successful “campaigns” to achieve client goals, whether such campaigns are internal, external, pre-electoral, electoral or non-electoral. Provide administrative support to political campaigns – including mail and media production, field programs, online outreach, data input, etc.
4. DATA INPUT, ANALYSIS, TRACKING & REPORTING. Learn the firm’s data input, tracking and reporting systems – and then measure and report key metrics and results to assigned project leaders in an accurate and timely way.
5. INTERNAL ORGANIZATION & ARCHIVING. Learn and manage CM filing system, both hard copy and online. Help develop and maintain filing system for CM mail, tools, and other work products.
6. CONTRIBUTE TO OUR PEAK-PERFORMING ENVIRONMENT. Make shared client/firm success a top priority, ensuring an upbeat, focused, efficient and effective consulting operation. Be a role model for others to follow.
QUALIFICATIONS: Outstanding writing, organizational and communications skills. Passion for our causes! Interest in community organizing, politics, public communications, or equivalent career fields (previous experience – even better!). Enthusiasm for public engagement; belief in our philosophy that people support what they help create. Sound judgment and problem solving capabilities. Political/community service background, including working with volunteers preferred. Required proficiency in Google & Microsoft Office Suite. Experience working (or desire to work) in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment ideal. Dependable, flexible and detail oriented. Upbeat, “can-do” spirit and “glad-to” attitude.
COMPENSATION: Our #1 goal with the “CliffordMoss Fellows” Internship Program is to provide our interns with a unique career-building experience – including meaningful work, communications skill building, and exposure into the profession of political consulting. A monthly stipend may be provided based on experience and unique circumstances.
TIME COMMITMENT: Summer Session, June 1 – August 31, 2025. Full and Part-time available. Full-Time schedule = 40+ hours/wk. Part-time schedule: 15-25 hours/wk. preferred. Schedule + stipends negotiable based on experience and availability. At the completion of the summer fellowship there may be potential opportunities to continue working with CliffordMoss.
