The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized intern to support our efforts in communication and advocacy impacting the design-build industry. This is a summer internship position with a flexible start date and a projected end in early August.
You’ll help develop and maintain a state and federal legislative database using Monday.com to log bill activity, coordinate updates across the advocacy and communications departments and ensure key policy developments are captured and accessible. In addition to this tracking work, you may also assist in identifying notable design-build projects making news around the country and helping us connect with the public Owners behind those efforts. It’s a research-heavy role that offers a behind-the-scenes look at how DBIA monitors the national landscape and engages with both policymakers and project teams. For the right candidate, this is a fantastic chance to see how an organization monitors and responds to fast-moving policy landscapes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in building and maintaining a Monday.com tracking system for legislation
- Conduct basic research on state and federal bills affecting design-build project delivery
- Enter and update data on a weekly basis, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Work closely with the communications and advocacy teams to flag key updates
- Help identify newsworthy design-build projects and research contact information for potential DBIA outreach
- Support internal reporting and communications as needed
Who We’re Looking For:
- Strong organizational skills and an eagle eye for detail
- Interest in policy, infrastructure or the legislative process
- Experience with project management platforms (Monday.com, Trello, Airtable, etc.) or strong proficiency in Excel
- Familiarity with legislative research or political tracking is a plus
- Quick learner, self-starter and someone who doesn’t mind repetition when it serves a mission
Preferred Areas of Study (but not required):
Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, Public Administration, Construction Management or related fields.
