Job Summary
You will:
- Serve as the company’s regulatory compliance authority—translating global standards into actionable product and process requirements.
- Lead UL DAP certification programs, ensuring our labs, testing, and documentation meet the highest third-party benchmarks.
- Drive product lifecycle compliance—from early design input to final approval—while enabling on-time market launches.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance and Certification Leadership
- Interpret and apply relevant global regulations (UL, CSA, CE, FCC, RoHS, REACH, ISO, etc.) to ensure multi-market access and compliance.
- Lead UL certification projects from quoting through issuance of Certificates of Compliance (CoC) and Notices of Authorization (NoA).
- Guide internal teams through product compliance milestones, including regulatory risk assessments and gap closure strategies.
Testing and Documentation Excellence
- Develop and manage descriptive technical reports, test plans, and submission packages to support regulatory audits and certifications.
- Maintain UL Data Acceptance Program (DAP) status through rigorous calibration protocols, method validation, and audit readiness.
- Oversee internal and third-party product testing—ensuring data traceability, integrity, and regulatory acceptance.
Audit and Surveillance Preparedness
- Act as the lead liaison during UL and regulatory audits. Address Variation Notices (VNs) through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Monitor and assess evolving regulatory standards using tools such as the Collaborative Standards Development System (CSDS).
- Maintain up-to-date compliance documentation and ensure readiness for surveillance, renewal, and expansion audits.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Program Management to align product design and material choices with regulatory pathways.
- Provide compliance input during design reviews and product changes to ensure regulatory alignment and avoid delays.
- Review product labeling, installation instructions, and documentation for alignment with compliance and certification requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering field.
- 5 or more years of experience in product compliance, regulatory engineering, or certification project management.
- Strong command of global compliance frameworks (UL, CE, ISO, IEC, EMC/EMI, FCC, FDA, etc.).
- Experience with third-party testing labs and compliance audits.
- Superior technical writing and documentation skills.
- Strong ability to interpret standards, drawings, and test protocols.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or certifications (such as ASQ CQE, RAC, PMP).
- Experience in regulated industries such as medical, automotive, aerospace, or consumer electronics.
- Familiarity with risk management methodologies (such as FMEA, ISO 14971).
- Knowledge of compliance and document control tools.
