Reports To: Director of Operations & Operations Manager
Time Commitment: 10 hours per week | Start Date: June 3, 2025 – End Date: August 22, 2025
Compensation: $500 stipend upon successful completion

The Ship Group is a behavioral health company committed to delivering culturally competent and client-centered services to individuals across North Carolina. Our work spans therapy, case management, peer support, and transitional programs that support individuals impacted by the justice system, mental health challenges, housing instability, and substance use.
We are actively building and optimizing systems to support scalable service delivery, digital infrastructure, and long-term growth across multiple behavioral health programs.
Position Overview:
The Business Operations & Program Development Intern will assist with internal operations, process development, and technology-driven solutions to strengthen agency efficiency and client service delivery. Working closely with the Director of Operations and Operations Manager, the intern will gain direct exposure to business strategy, systems building, and real-time operational workflows across a behavioral health practice.
This internship is ideal for a student interested in the business side of behavioral health—learning how to structure, manage, and scale service-based operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the development of tech-enabled workflows, digital forms, and tracking systems
Participate in internal planning and development meetings focused on growth, service delivery, and sustainability
Assist in documenting internal procedures and helping map workflows across teams
Work directly with the Director of Operations and Operations Manager on daily operations and strategy
Help with platform development projects (e.g., client onboarding systems, scheduling tools, referral flow)
Assist with administrative functions including phone coverage, scheduling, and intake support as needed
Participate in special assignments involving client outreach, intake design, or service optimization
Contribute to the structure and process improvements of platforms like The Black Therapy Network
Special Projects May Include:
Startup planning and sustainability modeling
SOP development and digital resource libraries
Platform design input for client/therapist workflows
Intake process improvements
Community engagement and onboarding toolkits
Eligibility & Ideal Majors:
This internship is open to current undergraduate students only.

Business Administration
Social Work (with an interest in systems, program development, or private practice models)
Entrepreneurship

Qualifications:
Must be a current undergraduate student
Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills
Interest in business operations, behavioral health, or healthcare administration
Comfortable using technology tools such as Google Workspace, spreadsheets, forms, etc.
Reliable, accountable, and able to manage responsibilities with limited supervision
Reliable transportation to our Charlotte office
Availability for 10 in-person hours per week from June 3 to August 22, 2025
