Summer Camp Counselor
Expanding company seeking Summer Counselors for specialty Camp serving ages 5-12 years old.
Located in Richmond Heights and Wickliffe, Ohio. ESLC's Amazing Race Camp is now hiring for Summer 2025! We are looking for individuals who are smart, caring, hard-working, enthusiastic, and responsible- and most critically, are experienced in working with young children. Individuals must be able to commit to the full 10 weeks of camp (June-August.)
Opportunity to continue in Fall with Before/After School Program. We would like each of our camp counselors to be able to instruct kids in a focus area, including visual & performing arts, science, technology, creative arts, and much more.
Job Responsibilities
- Work with children ages 5-11 years’ old
- Lead a group of 10-18 campers in daily activities, including sports and games, creative arts, and Weekly theme-based curriculum
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Characterize a positive role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior
- Help children learn to think creatively, to solve problems independently, and to respect themselves and others.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director and management staff
- Responsible for providing a quality camp experience for youths; ensuring their safety and growth in spirit, mind, and body on a daily basis.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Help write and implement curricular activities adequately for age groups served.
- Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week. Activities may include crafts, nature, songs, games, opening and closing ceremonies, swimming, engineering, science, technology, Family Night, etc.
- Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, CACFP and daily attendance.
- Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
- Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
Qualifications:
- Upon hire, completion of ESLC provided First Aid, CPR certification, Child Abuse and Communicable Disease trainings.
- Must be at least 17 years old; high school degree or equivalent.
- Education classes or experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.
- Genuine passion and enthusiasm for and desire to work with children.
- Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Qualifications- Preferred
- Associates or Bachelors with 12-unit hours in Education.

Physical Demands:
- Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to, hiking, canoeing, swimming, team building initiatives, physical games, and activities.
- Must have the ability to physically support children when needed for safety in general camp activities (child weighing 50 - 100 pounds).

Job Type: Full-time Seasonal
Salary: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour based on experience
Benefits: Camp Counselors do not qualify for benefits as this position is seasonal. However, there may be an opportunity to continue working at ESLC as a Before/After school teacher and floater.
