Research Technician in Molecular Immunology
A Research Technician position is available in the lab of Katia Georgopoulos in the Cutaneous Biology Research Center at MGH/Harvard Medical School.
We study the transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms that control lymphocyte differentiation and adaptive immune cell function. We combine mouse and humanized mouse genetic models with cutting edge approaches in cellular, molecular, and synthetic biology to study how IKAROS, one of the key regulators of lymphocyte differentiation and function, shapes the adaptive immune system with important implications for immune cell regulation in clinical settings.
We are looking for a talented and motivated candidate to contribute to our ongoing research projects. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop his/hers/theirs independent but always closely supervised research project. Academic benefits are direct training from senior scientists in the lab in cutting edge wet lab techniques and in a range of bioinformatics. Training in our lab has prepared young scientists well for the next stage in their career especially for transitions to Medical or Graduate school.
The candidate must have a B.S. or B.A. in biological sciences or related field before starting. This position is ideal for a graduating student who is looking for 2-years of research experience. The candidate must have knowledge of general biochemistry and molecular biology techniques, with some laboratory experience from course work or internships in research labs during the undergraduate years. Some experience with computer science and bioinformatic would be desirable but not necessary. Prior experience with working with mouse as a model organism or experience in flow cytometry would be an added benefit but not necessary.
