
K-8 STEM Teacher
We are seeking a passionate and innovative K-8 STEM Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire young learners by fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through hands-on instruction in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The teacher will design and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons that encourage exploration, creativity, and real-world application. This position reports to the Principal.

Established in 1948 in Mamaroneck, NY, Westchester Day School, a Modern Orthodox, co-educational, dual curriculum Jewish elementary school (2-year-olds through 8th grade), prepares students to live as mensches and lifelong learners and inspires them to impact the world around them by cultivating a commitment to Torah, midot, community and academic rigor.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a STEM curriculum aligned with state and national standards.
- Deliver interactive lessons that integrate science, math, coding, engineering design, and technology.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages collaboration, inquiry, and a growth mindset.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Organize and facilitate STEM-related projects, experiments, and challenges.
- Assess student progress using a range of formative and summative assessment tools.
- Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to support interdisciplinary instruction and school-wide STEM initiatives.
- Maintain Makerspace materials and technology equipment.
- Communicate regularly with families and the community about student STEM projects and activities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and school events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching license/certification for the appropriate grade level.
- Strong knowledge of STEM content and pedagogy.
- Experience with robotics, coding (e.g., Scratch, Python) and makerspace tools.
- Familiarity with NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) and Common Core math standards.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for a variety of learners.
- Experience integrating technology and project-based learning into the classroom.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Passion for working with young learners and fostering a love for STEM.
Salary range for this role is $75,000- $85,000, depending upon education and experience.
