Introduction:
The Ohio Hospital Association was established in 1915 as the nation’s first state-level hospital association. OHA represents 250 hospitals and 17 health systems throughout Ohio. OHA exists to collaborate with member hospitals and health systems to ensure a healthy Ohio.
Position overview:
Gain a wide range of experience within OHA’s Public Affairs team. The digital communications intern will meet the qualifications listed below and will primarily be responsible for assisting with the execution of strategic communications campaigns and social media initiatives working a minimum of 15 hours per week with the option to work up to 29 hours per week, based on academic schedules. The digital communications intern will learn OHA’s brand voice and how to implement that voice into communications through social media and newsletters.
This position is hybrid as OHA staff have blended in-office and remote work options, but a minimum of one day of in-office work per week will be required. We will provide a laptop with access to our systems, although applicants must have access to reliable high-speed internet while working remotely. This is a paid position.
Representative Duties and responsibilities:
Primary Duties:
- Assist with creating social media text and graphics, and scheduling posts
- Assist with OHA’s member e-communications, including developing content for newsletters and event promotions
- Assist with email marketing production
- Assist with production and deployment of OHA’s print and web communications/marketing materials
- Support Public Affairs team with special projects
Secondary Duties as Needed:
- Archive digital assets, including project files, photography and video files
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in digital communications, graphic design, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field required
- Available to begin by late summer 2025 and stay through the school year required (starting early in June or an extension through summer 2026 are possible)
- Working knowledge of AP style newswriting required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Strong organizational and task management skills required
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software (specifically InDesign and Photoshop) and content management systems recommended
- Previous internship experience recommended
- Strong leadership, communication and analytical skills recommended
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) recommended
