Paralegal

The Paralegal is responsible for providing support to trusts and estates attorney.  The ideal candidate is timely, collected, and detail oriented.  This role requires professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to providing exceptional client service.   Trust, accuracy, and ability to manage time are important to this position.  This is an excellent opportunity for those who are familiar with trusts and estates law, proficient at using electronic court platforms, and enjoy interacting with attorney and clients.  This is a full-time position and is 100% in-person. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and edit estate planning documents, probate pleadings, deeds, special proceedings pleadings, such as partitions and guardianships, and other legal documents.
  • Prepare documents for meetings with clients, attend meetings, take notes, and notarize documents.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and financial planners over the phone, via email and through written communication.
  • Organize and maintain both hard copy and electronic case files.
  • Conduct legal research, including research related to real estate titles, property matters, and North Carolina trusts and estates law.
  • Intake new client information and onboard new clients. 
  • Manage client files and update records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide general administrative support to attorneys and facilitate meeting deadlines by organizing schedules and sending reminders.
  • Facilitate timely payment from clients. 
  • Handle special projects or additional responsibilities as assigned from time to time by the attorneys in the Firm.

Qualifications:

  • Paralegal certification or equivalent experience required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with North Carolina trust and estates law.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Google Drive), Lean Law, and QuickBooks. 
  • Excellent grammar, basic math, and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Proficient at navigating NC Court e-filing systems and online portals.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to be empathetic yet professional.
  • Ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity in personal and fiduciary matters. 
  • Ability to abide by strict confidentiality rules. 
  • Notary Public certification for North Carolina or ability to obtain one.

  • Holiday Paid Time Off:  Brady Boyette observes almost all holidays that the Register of Deeds observes.  
  • Personal Paid Time Off:  After 6 months of employment, receive 5 days PTO, to be used over the following 6 months.  After 1 year of employment, 10 days PTO/year. After 3 years of employment, 13 days PTO/year.  After 5 years of employment, 15 days of PTO/year.
