Youth Filmmaking Summer Camp Intern
Being an intern for a FilmNorth Summer camp is the perfect opportunity to put your experience and expertise into practice and assist youth with media projects while collaborating with a local, professional instructor in the field!
Summer camps run Monday – Friday weekly from June 23rd – August 22nd, 2025. Please note that each internship (e.g. directing or cinematography), is specific to each camp and lasts for one week only, rather than the entire summer. Please refer to the schedule below for dates and camp listings.
Duties: Summer camp interns work closely with the instructor to address the needs of the camp. If the camp is production-oriented, interns assist students with planning, filming, and editing. Interns primarily work as collaborating mentors for the projects, and also help with any necessary equipment setup. Interns should be comfortable working collaboratively with youth ages 10-17. Interns are expected to staff the check-in counter on the first day of camp, put out snacks, for breaks and clean up after breaks. All interns must arrive at least 15 minutes before the camp begins to help with set-up. If you are asked to assist with camp check-in, you must arrive 30 minutes before camp start.
Qualifications: Experience with video production (cameras, lighting, audio) and editing is preferred. Experience working with youth and collaborating with diverse individuals is also preferred. Graphic design or photography experience is helpful but not required.
Compensation: Interns receive a $150 (half-day) or $300 (full-day) stipend per camp and FREE enrollment of one class or workshop.
Additional Benefits: Networking opportunities & exposure to reputed film professionals, film production equipment and post-production software trainings, mentorship experience and participation in collaborative learning.
