Paralegal - Family Law

Role Description

As a Family Law Paralegal, you will perform a variety of complex duties with limited supervision. The ideal candidate must have 2 - 3 years of law firm experience in the area of Florida family law. This position includes a significant amount of client contact requiring a positive attitude and excellent communication skills. In addition, this position requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule consultations for potential clients and appointments for current clients.
  • Assist with the drafting, filing, and service of court documents and correspondence.
  • Ensure compliance with court filing deadlines.
  • Draft, organize, review, and manage case documents.
  • Schedule couriers, court reporters, expert witnesses & other special functions.
  • Research sources such as statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, constitutions, and public records.
  • Drafts, prepares and performs limited reviews of legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, discovery materials, appeals and contracts.
  • Assists in trial preparation and discovery practices such as gathering and organizing exhibits, trial data, documents, and other materials in response to subpoenas, discovery requests, interrogatories, motions for summary judgments, etc.
  • Serves as a limited liaison between counsel, clients, experts, witnesses, third parties, and other outside contacts.
  • Maintain Attorney’s calendar by planning and scheduling conferences, teleconferences, and depositions.
  • Enter and record billing entries, and review monthly bills.

Requirements

  • 2 - 3 years of prior Family Law paralegal experience, preferably in a high-volume, fast-paced law firm environment.
  • Paralegal degree/certificate is a plus.
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Knowledge of Clio Grow & Clio Manage is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person
