Marketing and Communications Intern

Marketing and Communications Intern 

Summit Construction is looking for a creative and innovative thinker to intern with our growing marketing department. The marketing and communications intern will exercise their communication and content creation skills to promote the company and support its clients. This position is for someone who thrives in day-to-day variety, enjoys storytelling, and creating interesting and informative content through the combination of ideas and technology. The ideal candidate will have excellent organization skills, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and excitement for learning and applying skills in a real business environment.  

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or graphic design 
  • Junior or senior year 

DESIRED SKILLS 

  • Content writing - research, planning, editing, grammar and organization
  • Ability to turn technical construction updates into content for the layperson 
  • Multi-tasking and time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Social media strategy, understanding of tools, trends and appropriate uses – LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube
  • Microsoft Office suite – Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator a + 
  • Experience with drones, DSLR photography, lavalier microphones, gimbals, lighting equipment a + 

DUTIES

The intern will assist the marketing team with the following tasks. More advanced work may be included depending on experience level.  

  • Client communication program improvement – development of client tools 
  • Graphic design – branded materials 
  • Website updating - new project pages, article posting, maintenance
  • Proposal reviews and editing 
  • Internal newsletter reviews
  • Marketing campaigns 
  • Picking up presentation materials 
  • Obtaining footage for social media (photo and video) 
  • Summit Gives Back program events
  • Attend project events such as groundbreakings or ribbon cuttings to cover the event
