Litigation Paralegal
Mason, Mason & Smith – May 2025

 

Overview:

The Litigation Paralegal will perform various administrative and substantive legal tasks in support of the Family Law Department and the Criminal Defense Department. Position will assist attorneys in all aspects of litigation, including in-person and electronic filing, drafting legal documents, organizing files pertaining to cases, preparing letters to clients, and providing case status updates.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Paralegal will perform various case management-related duties, frequently communicate with clients and work within multiple databases. Will work within a team of other paralegals and independently.

Paralegal Duties:

  • Interacts with clients via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Prepares correspondences, simple pleadings, notices, and document shells.
  • Conducts legal research, prepares attorney working binders, creates and manages client/matter-related spreadsheets.
  • Prepares notices and proofs of service.
  • E-files in various jurisdictions.
  • Prepares tables of contents and authorities.
  • Maintains accurate electronic client files and other documentation.

  • Prepares case binders and other client management tools.
  • Schedules depositions, courts calls and other third-party vendor services.
  • Manages multiple office and client-related calendars.

Specific Qualifications:

  • Proven proficiency in the MS Suite of applications, legal time and billing systems, and records management software.
  • The ability to multi-task and manage multiple moving parts of client engagements.
  • Database management exposure or experience.
  • Proven and polished attention to detail.
  • Ability to work overtime as required, sometimes on short notice.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time and lift up to 25lbs on a regular basis.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Previous paralegal experience is preferred, but not required.

Pay, Hours, and Benefits:

  • Hourly rate $20-25, based on experience.
  • Generally 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Friday, with early closure on Fridays.
  • Accrued PTO.
  • After 90 days, employer-supplemented Medical and Dental insurance, access to Vision insurance.
  • After 1 year, 401k with up to 4% employer match.
