Middle School Supervisor
The Middle School Supervisor is a valued member of the Lycée’s middle school Vie Scolaire team. They are assigned various administrative and educational tasks, help students develop their full potential and encourage respectful behavior toward the whole community. The Middle School Supervisor provides essential administrative and educational support to middle school students, staff and families, under the Dean’s direct supervision.
Responsibilities
1. Supervision of students and enforcement of LFC rules
- Provide active supervision of students in all locations (hallways, lounges, restrooms, playground, cafeteria, classrooms, etc.) and throughout the school day, especially during less structured times.
- Supervise daily recess periods, welcome students in the morning and dismiss them in the afternoon.
- Monitor student behavior and intervene in situations that may lead to disruption or safety concerns.
- Supervise study halls (permanence), assemblies, and exams and maintain a quiet work environment
- Supervise classes when teachers are absent and implement substitute teacher plans and classroom management
- Oversee office hours at 3:40 pm, directing students to academic resources and helping maintain a positive study environment
- Track student behavior infractions (Code of Conduct) in Pronote software
2. Student support
- Support a student culture that develops the students' sense of responsibility, cultural awareness and the spirit of the school
- Listen to students with empathy
- Build positive relationships with students and serve as a positive role model.
- Mediate conflicts between students.
- Support the school's disciplinary approach (Positive Discipline)
- Contribute to establishing a constructive dialogue with parents
- Participate in student life events such as field trips, vie de classe, assemblies, dances, etc.
- Assist students in keeping their belongings organized (lockers, backpacks, classroom)
- Help students with lesson work during permanence and office hours
- Connect students with the appropriate staff member and encourage students to take advantage of academic, social/emotional, and behavioral supports available at LFC.
3. Administrative
- Document student absences and code of conduct infractions in collaboration with the Dean.
- Communicate consequences for minor infractions to families and students
- Learn and use the LFC software (Google Classroom, Hapara, Pronote, EDT, Google suites)
- Respond promptly to student, parent, and staff inquiries via email, phone and in person
- Prepare for faculty absences to ensure proper student supervision
- Coordinate with teachers and students for make up assessments
- Attend administrative meetings, as needed
- Assist the Dean of Students with vie scolaire projects, duties and other responsibilities as needed
Requirements
- The ideal candidate is organized, able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, and an independent team player.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with students, recognize cultural sensitivities, and maintain confidentiality
- Experience working with middle school students preferred, prior experience working in a school environment is a plus.
- Fluent in English, with knowledge and understanding of the French language and culture a plus.
Additional Information
- The schedule is variable and onsite at the school, including direct support, coordination, and follow-up with staff and families
- The salary is 38-40k annually with a full-time schedule and is benefits eligible: medical, dental, and vision insurance, 403b with eventual match, and tuition remission.
