Purchasing and Inventory Intern

QLA is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing and Inventory Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both the procurement and inventory management aspects of our supply chain operations. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals, contributing to key processes and projects that ensure efficient and cost-effective material flow. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates looking to develop practical skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Purchasing Support:
    • Assist in the procurement of materials, supplies, and services, following established procedures.
    • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and analyze pricing.
    • Assist in the preparation and processing of purchase orders.
    • Communicate with vendors to obtain quotes, clarify specifications, and track order status.
    • Maintain organized records of purchasing documentation, including quotes, orders, and invoices.
    • Assist in evaluating supplier performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
    • Support the development and maintenance of supplier relationships.
    • Assist with contract review and documentation.
    • Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and value analysis.
  • Inventory Management Support:
    • Assist in monitoring and managing inventory levels to ensure optimal stock and minimize shortages or excess.
    • Participate in inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain accuracy.
    • Analyze inventory data to identify trends and potential issues.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of inventory control procedures.
    • Support the management of warehouse organization and material flow.
    • Help track and resolve discrepancies in inventory records.
    • Contribute to the development of reports on inventory levels, stockouts, and other key metrics.
    • Assist in the implementation of strategies to improve inventory efficiency and reduce waste.
  • General Support:
    • Assist with data entry and analysis in relevant systems (e.g., ERP, inventory management software).
    • Prepare reports and presentations as needed.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to project discussions.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Purchasing and Inventory teams.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field. Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.  
  • Strong interest in purchasing, procurement, and inventory management principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (e.g., data analysis, spreadsheets).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.  
  • Familiarity with ERP systems or inventory management software is a plus.
