ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
Rebuilding Together Atlanta (RTA) is one of 150 affiliates in 44 states mobilizing volunteers, in-kind donations, and financial support to provide critical home repairs for low-income veterans and seniors—at no cost to them. For over 30 years, our Safe and Healthy Homes program has helped residents age in place safely and with dignity. We partner with businesses, contractors, volunteers, and local agencies to rebuild homes and revitalize communities across the metro Atlanta area.
Position Title: Volunteer Services Intern
Organization: Rebuilding Together Atlanta (RTA)
Location: Hybrid – Home | Office (Atlanta & Smyrna) | Field
Position Type: Part-Time Internship
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Volunteer Services Intern will support the planning, coordination, and communication of RTA’s volunteer engagement activities. This opportunity is ideal for students or emerging professionals eager to build experience in nonprofit operations, volunteer coordination, and community outreach. The intern will work directly with staff to maintain volunteer records, support service events, and assist with recruitment and recognition efforts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and communication
- Help schedule and prepare for service days and special events
- Maintain and update volunteer contact lists and data
- Search for opportunities to attend local schools & select community events to promote RTA and recruit volunteers
- Search for free online platforms & community boards to Bring awareness about RTA and volunteer opportunities.
- Support day-of logistics and volunteer engagement at events

- Assist with tracking hours and preparing recognition materials
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Organized, dependable, and proactive
- Comfortable working with diverse groups
- Familiar with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
- Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Comfortable speaking in front of a crowd
- Experience providing directions to a group or individual volunteers
Experience
- Participation in student orgs, service projects, or event planning
- Experience with outreach, communications, or admin tasks
- Professional communication via email or phone
Preferred
- Familiarity with volunteer coordination or nonprofit work
- Experience using social media for outreach or marketing
- Working with a database or data management software
- Access to transportation (local travel may be required)
- Access to a computer and reliable internet connection
TIME COMMITMENT
- 15–25 hours/week (flexible; more hours available if needed and or desired)
- Duration: 3–6 months (or based on academic requirements)
- Format: Hybrid (some on-site work; some remote tasks)
