Community Engagement Intern

Community Engagement Intern – Big Personality? Use It for a Big Purpose and Save Lives!

About the Safe Ride Foundation:
We’re on a mission to end drunk driving in Frederick County. Through our flagship program SOS Safe Ride, we don’t just talk about solutions — we drive them. Literally. And now, we’re looking for someone with a big voice and a bigger heart to help us take that mission directly into the community.

About the Role:
This isn’t your average internship. As our Community Engagement Intern, you’ll be the face of SOS Safe Ride at festivals, bar events, and alcohol-serving venues. You’ll run our event booth, administer breathalyzer testing, educate people on the risks of impaired driving, and spark conversations that could potentially save lives.

If you’re outgoing, persuasive, and love being the center of the action, this is your moment to be a true “Director of First Impressions,” as we call it.

Responsibilities:
🎪 Be the ringmaster of our event booth — charm, engage, and inform
📢 Speak confidently with event goers about our mission and services
🎯 Help individuals make smarter, safer decisions about alcohol
📦 Transport and set up canopy tents, tables, banners, and marketing materials
📉 Record basic interaction data (we’ll train you)
🧠 Become a trusted representative of one of the area’s most impactful nonprofits

What You’ll Get:
💰 $17.50/hr, paid internship
🕒 3–5 hour shifts, mostly Thursday and Saturday evenings (most shifts are from 5pm-8pm, some Saturday shifts could go as late as 11pm)
🚗 Flexible schedule, but weekend availability is a must
🔥 Hands-on experience in:

  • Event marketing
  • Public speaking
  • Sales and community engagement
  • Nonprofit business development
  • Face-to-face persuasion

📄 Great reference for future jobs or grad school — we’ve helped interns land amazing roles
🧠 Mentorship from nonprofit leaders and real-world networking opportunities

What You Need:
✅ A big personality — don’t be shy, this role thrives on enthusiasm
✅ Reliable transportation to and from event sites
✅ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (booth setup is part of the job.)
✅ Availability on Thursday Evenings, and at least two Saturdays a month
✅ Professionalism — you’re the first impression of a life-saving mission

This Role Is For You If...

  • You light up a room just by walking into it
  • You want real experience that goes on more than just a resume
  • You’re possibly studying (or passionate about) fields like marketing, business development, public speaking, nonprofit work, or sales
  • You believe in having fun and doing good

How to Apply:
Apply now and tell us why your energy and personality make you the perfect face of SOS Safe Ride. No cover letter required — just bring the heat and be ready to show us what you’ve got.
