Internship Overview:
MTZ Renewable Fuels Refinery is excited to offer a Project Controls Engineering Internship within our Engineering Department. This internship provides a unique opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in project development and execution while learning about budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and scheduling practices within the renewable fuels industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development of communication and reporting networks for project data gathering and analysis.
• Support project teams in monitoring schedule status and adherence to budget constraints.
• Help maintain project work breakdown structures in accordance with MPC & Project Controls standards.
• Participate in the review of project performance measurement systems (Primavera P6) and reports on contractor progress.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with project control procedures and reporting requirements.
• Aid in the preparation and maintenance of master program and project plans for tracking purposes.
• Analyze engineering progress and provide input for regular schedule updates.
• Engage with various departments to gather information and assist in problem resolution.
• Participate in the development of working schedules and preliminary phased schedules.
• Learn about resource loading data incorporation into schedules and assist in manpower estimates for projects.
• Support the Project Managers in creating and monitoring short-term schedules and identifying scheduling issues.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Data Science, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of project controls, scheduling, and budgeting concepts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Availability for a 10–12-week internship, with flexibility in scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous internship or coursework experience in project management, engineering, or construction.
• Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) is a plus.
• Interest in the renewable fuels or petrochemical industry.
