Safety Intern

Job Summary:

The Safety Intern is responsible for various safety related projects, DOT Driver logs, and other administrative safety related duties as deemed necessary by the Safety Supervisor. Intern will be expected to work 20-30 hours during the semester, with the opportunity to work full-time over the summer. There is potential for this to turn into a full-time, permanent position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Illustrative duties may include, but are not restricted to, the following:

  • Perform the day-to-day administration of safety related items for the Company.
  • Answering Safety line, processing inquiries, and directing the call to the appropriate staff. Additionally, monitor the Safety voicemail inbox daily. 
  • Assist in maintaining and updating driver files, especially DOT Physicals and CDL expirations
  • Perform document reviews and data entry as it relates to Independent Contractor contract requirements, to include monthly maintenance reports and 90-day inspections. 
  • Process Unit Status updates when a driver is assigned to a new tractor.
  • Review Safety dash cam footage and classify potentially unsafe driving behaviors. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Pursuing a degree in the college of business, emergency management, criminal justice, or related.
  • Student must be a junior or senior with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
