Who is IRT? 

Information Resources & Technology (IRT) partners with faculty, staff, and students to provide essential information technology services that support mission critical activities and innovative technology solutions that facilitate the accomplishment of strategic campus goals at Sacramento State.

 

WHAT IS THE IRT HARDWARE SUPPORT GRAD STUDENT INTERNSHIP?

The IRT Downtown Graduate Intern supports the Sacramento State Downtown campus by working closely with the Downtown Technology Coordinator. Responsibilities include receiving and managing inventory, setting up and deploying A/V technology in classrooms, and providing on-site tech support to faculty and students.

 

This role also involves assisting with additional departmental tasks as needed to ensure smooth technology operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong customer service skills and contribute to a welcoming, professional environment that reflects the values of the Division of Information Resources & Technology.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Graduate student in good academic standing (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and for each semester while employed) and in good disciplinary standing with the University when appointed and for the duration of the employment period
  2. Must have excellent customer service skills. 
  3. Experience with servicing computer equipment 
  4. Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications. 
  5. Familiarity with Windows and Macintosh operating systems. 
  6. The ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach overhead and lift up to 50 lbs 
  7. Ability to work in a diverse environment with university Faculty and Staff. 
  8. Ability to complete tasks while providing excellent customer service. 
  9. Self-motivated and able to work independently with nominal supervision. 
  10. Excellent communication and organizational skills.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Under the direct supervision of the Sac State Downtown Technology Coordinator, the Graduate Intern will be responsible for the following:

 

  1. Provide excellent customer service when assisting users 
  2. Assist with equipment configurations and installations 
  3. Aid in basic troubleshooting of A/V technology 
  4. Track work and reply to customers via Service-Now 
  5. Maintain an accurate inventory of A/V technology 
  6. Keep environment and equipment clean and orderly

     

 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  1. Interns should be available to work a minimum of 12 hours per week (up to 20) between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm M-F. 
  2. The internship is a one academic year commitment.
  3. The work is performed in an office environment with continuous contact with students, staff, and the campus community.

 

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: 

  1. Interns will be expected to assist during IRT events and activities.
