Who is IRT?
Information Resources & Technology (IRT) partners with faculty, staff, and students to provide essential information technology services that support mission critical activities and innovative technology solutions that facilitate the accomplishment of strategic campus goals at Sacramento State.
WHAT IS THE IRT ACADEMIC TECHNOLOGY GRADUATE STUDENT INTERNSHIP?
The IRT Academic Technology Graduate Student Assistant will assist the Director of Academic Technology and IRT Academic Technology team in supporting the campus Academic Technology program. The employee will assist with scripting and coding processes, ensuring accuracy of data, and will support the ATS staff with documentation and provide basic technical support. The intern will also perform document remediation and webpage analysis and design. The employee will work with the ATS team to perform additional duties within the department, as needed. The intern will provide excellent customer service at all times, while promoting a friendly and positive image for the division.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be currently enrolled as a Graduate Student in good disciplinary standing with the University when appointed and for the duration of the employment period.
- Must be in good academic standing (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and for each semester while employed)
- Must have excellent customer service skills
- Experience with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Teams, Word), data analysis, data analytics, programming, scripting
- Ability to work in a diverse environment with university Faculty and Staff.
- Ability to complete tasks while providing excellent customer service
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with nominal supervision
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge or experience with video editing, software or services
Beneficial Qualifications:
- Knowledge of commonly used operating systems, like Windows, macOS, iOS, Android.
- Knowledge of commonly used campus software, like Canvas, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Zoom.
- Experience using Task and Communication-Collaboration Applications, like SharePoint, Teams, ServiceNow, or other ticketing systems.
- Experience with user experience and content design
- Experience in teaching, education, or training roles.
- Knowledge or experience with video editing, software or services
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Academic Technology, the Graduate Intern will be responsible for the following:
- Aid in scripting or coding tasks to automate processes.
- Assist in validating the data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
- Contribute to creating documentation outlining the processes, including steps taken, scripts used, challenges faced, and their resolutions. Ensure comprehensive documentation for future reference.
- Provide technical support and technical assistance.
- Remediate various types of instructional materials including: PDF documents, Word Documents, PowerPoint Presentations
- Use Canvas Ally tools to review accessibility information and make final material review
- Assist with webpage analysis and design.
- Adhere to Data Security privacy guidelines and maintain confidentiality of our community.
- Engage and contribute to the ongoing environment of learning, sharing, and curiosity.
- Share passion about technology and its connection to people and their stories.
- Work in multiple technology environments, including Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and Chromebook.
- Maintain good hygiene, safe health practices, and cleanliness of the work spaces.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Interns should be available to work a minimum of 12 hours per week (up to 20) between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm M-F.
- The internship is a one academic year commitment.
- The work is performed in an office environment with continuous contact with students, staff and the campus community.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:
- Interns will be expected to assist during IRT events and activities.
