Digital and Communications Intern

Description: 

The Texas Democratic Party is seeking a Digital and Communications Intern for the summer 2025 semester. You will be responsible for writing and executing grassroots campaigns using fundraising, mobilization, and communications tactics, and also collaborating to pioneer emerging technologies to achieve our ambitious goals for 2026. To succeed, you’ll need to be forward-thinking and relentlessly pursue excellence in all written communications.

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and code grassroots fundraising emails
  • Design creative social media graphics/videos that react to current events, trends, and voter priorities, as well as strengthening the organizing leg of our party by promoting actions onlineWork closely with the messaging team on press releases and events.
  • Propose ideas for online messaging.
  • Other duties, as assigned, to support the department and the TDP's mission.

Required Skills: 

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; you should have an eagle-eye for typos and errors and have a deep understanding of how to inspire people to take action using the written word.
  • You're excited to use emerging technologies to push boundaries and modernize our approach to digital communications and fundraising.
  • You’re flexible and adaptive; you can innovate within situations that change on the fly, and you maintain a positive attitude through it all.

Desired but teachable skills:

  • Familiarity with Canva
  • Basic video editing experience (ex: CapCut, iMovie)

Start Date: ASAP

Employment Type: Intern. Part-time (approximately 20 hours per week), non-exempt, hybrid- with three days at least expected in office. Not eligible for benefits. Union eligible.

Location: Austin, Texas

Salary: $15/hour
