Coordinator, Adult Competition (Tennis)
This position will support USTA Northern in growing tennis to inspire healthier people and communities everywhere, with a focus on promoting and developing adult competitive programming. This person will serve as the Local League Coordinator for the greater Twin Cities area, managing all aspects of league play in the region. The Coordinator will work closely with tennis facility managers and team captains to coordinate schedules and serve player needs, and plays a supportive role in the administration and effective management of all competitive programs.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:

League Coordinator for the greater Twin Cities area, managing all aspects of league play in the region. The Coordinator will work closely with tennis facility managers and team captains to coordinate schedules and serve player needs, and plays a supportive role in the administration and effective management of all competitive programs.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
USTA Leagues
- Plan and organize all Twin Cities area leagues, with a variety of divisions and seasons of play.
- Promote play opportunities and ensure important information, such as dates and deadlines, is posted to the website and pushed out to partners, captains, and players.
- Create and publish league schedules in TennisLink, negotiate match times with facilities, and address conflicts.
- Support volunteer team captains through orientation and training, understanding of league regulations, use of digital tools (TennisLink, League Apps, etc.), and other responsibilities and best practices. Oversee the coordination of captain appreciation gifts.
- Ensure scores are recorded in TennisLink, addressing any disputes and making corrections as needed.
- Confirm and declare winners at the conclusion of the league season, notifying captains of their opportunity to participate in any advancement opportunities.
- Support the Section League Coordinator in the delivery of all Section Championship events.
- Promptly address all inquiries from players, captains, and facilities. Escalate major issues to the Section Leagues Coordinator.
General Support
- Attend regular staff meetings, supporting the overall needs of the organization and department.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Director of Competition.

- Number of USTA League players in the Twin Cities metro area
- USTA League player and captain satisfaction and retention rates
- Quantity and quality of facility partnerships in the Twin Cities area
- Diversity of USTA league offerings and player reach
- Fulfill annual performance goals as set by USTA Northern
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Local league captains and championship site directors
INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:
USTA Northern Staff and Volunteers (Adult Competition Committee), USTA National & Section Staff
EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Tennis Facilities and other Tennis Industry Partners, League Captains and Players, Vendors, and Sponsors
TRAVEL & TIME COMMITMENT:
Required – Meetings and events throughout the greater Twin Cities metro area. Some weekend and evening work requirements for League Championships, Annual Meeting & Conference, and other special functions.
*Please note, PTO requests will be restricted during peak scheduling and section championship seasons (April, July - September, and December).
Possible – Limited overnight travel within the USTA Northern region (MN, ND, SD, western WI) and some travel outside the section to attend USTA National League Championships and other meetings and events as budget allows.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience
- Strong organizational skills, including a high level of attention to detail
- Customer service and communication skills
- Previous experience coordinating and scheduling sports leagues and tournaments
- Proficiency with technology and digital applications (Google Suite products, TennisLink, Serve Tennis)
- Familiarity with the rules of tennis (Friend at Court), USTA Officiating experience is a plus
