Social Media Intern
About the role:
We are seeking a creative and driven Social Media Intern to join the early stages of a new company in the pet wellness space. Launching in summer of this year, we’re looking for an intern to join pre-launch to help build the foundations of our content and social media strategy in preparation for our launch. The ideal candidate will have a passion for social media, a love for pets, and a natural instinct for building from nothing. While this role will be part-time to start, this can turn into a permanent contract and/or a full-time role for the right candidate. The founder/CEO is based in Denver, but the team is remote-first, so this role is open to anyone in the US. *Must be based in the US with right to work in the US*
A sampling of what you might do:
- Ideate and execute on video-first social media content, drawing inspiration from trending content, but also creating engaging, educational content about pet health
- Help set and test strategy, using data and analytics to drive you forward
- Come up with new content pillars or formats to test
- Engage with the community (through our own channels as well as like-minded channels)
- Source, vet, and build relationships with influencers and affiliate partners
- Learn from the CEO who has spent 7+ years in consumer marketing and loves to mentor (she’s got references!)
- The exact function of the role will depend on the person’s interests and strengths
The candidate we’re looking for:
- Is committed to this internship for a minimum of 7 hrs/week between M-F, for at least 3 months
- Has a natural instinct for and interest in social media – no formal degree in the industry is required. What you’ve done is more important!
- Has a unique tone of voice. Pushing the edges of convention and being a little sassy is not frowned upon, it’s encouraged!
- Has strong written and verbal communication skills. You might be the type of person who corrects others’ typos. You are definitely the type of person who can navigate an unfamiliar conversation with confidence.
- Loves organization and processes, and uses tools like Google Drive to stay organized
- Understands video editing - pacing, color grading, how to keep a viewer engaged and interested (CapCut is sufficient, Premiere Pro is bonus)
- Is comfortable working with minimal structure, maybe even thrives in it. We’re not a corporate environment that will put you in a box, so you’ll get to grow as we grow!
- Loves pets, ideally both dogs and cats, as you will likely need to film content with one or both, but we won’t hold it against you if you like one more than the other :)
