About American Tenet
American Tenet is at the forefront of developing an autonomous, unmanned, fixed-wing drone that can remain aloft for months without an engine. We endeavor to reach altitudes of 90,000 feet and create the world's first unmanned commercial aircraft to autonomously circumnavigate the globe with the ability to land and take off from the ocean surface. Our focus is combining cutting-edge technology while leveraging underutilized resources to deliver force-multiplying capabilities to our commercial, government civil, and defense customers. We seek a motivated and talented Electrical Engineer Intern to join our dynamic team for the summer.
Project Overview
American Tenet is seeking a Finance and Accounting Intern to join our Chief Financial Officer (CFO) during the summer of 2025 for an 8-week program. This intern will act as the CFO’s “eyes and ears,” closely monitoring the activities, goals, and resource use of other interns working on cutting-edge projects. Recognizing that internship objectives often evolve from their initial plans, the intern will track costs, capture shifting priorities, and provide actionable insights to ensure financial alignment with American Tenet’s strategic vision. This role offers a unique blend of financial analysis and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the CFO to monitor and document the daily activities, progress, and resource expenditures of other interns (e.g., engineering or tech-focused teams).
- Track and categorize project costs (e.g., materials, stipends, prototyping expenses) against initial budgets, identifying variances as goals evolve.
- Conduct regular check-ins with other interns to understand their shifting objectives and challenges, reporting findings to the CFO in concise summaries.
- Assist in creating financial reports or dashboards that highlight cost trends, activity changes, and resource needs for ongoing and future projects.
- Support the CFO in forecasting adjustments based on real-time data, ensuring financial oversight adapts to dynamic internship outcomes.
- Participate in team meetings to gain context on project goals, bridging operational and financial perspectives.
Qualifications
- Current junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills with coursework or experience in budgeting, cost tracking, or financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas) or similar tools; familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with peers and synthesize information for the CFO.
- Detail-oriented with an ability to adapt to changing priorities and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
- Interest in defense innovation and supporting American Tenet’s mission to enhance national security.
- Direct Mentorship: Work alongside the CFO, gaining hands-on experience in financial oversight for innovative defense projects.
Benefits
- Cross-Functional Exposure: Interact with engineering and tech interns, building a holistic view of business operations.
- Skill Development: Enhance your expertise in cost analysis, reporting, and adaptive financial planning in a real-world setting.
- Impact: Contribute to American Tenet’s mission of strengthening national security through resource optimization.
