Camp Photographer

Camp Photographer

Job Description: responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
 

Key Position Responsibilities Include (and are not limited to):  
 

General Responsibilities: 

  • The camp photographer is responsible for documenting and visually representing the camp experience through photography. This includes taking photos during camp activities, special events, group photos, and candid shots of campers and staff. The photographer’s goal is to create lasting memories for campers, families, and the camp community. 

Pre-Camp Responsibilities 

  • Review photography expectations and shot lists with the marketing department at BBYO 

 

Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Capture camp activities: Take high-quality photos of daily activities. 
  • Event photography: Photograph special camp events, including evening programs, special programs, field trips, and other group celebrations. 
  • Portraits: Take individual and group photos of campers and staff, as requested. 
  • Organize and edit photos: Edit and enhance photos to ensure they meet the camp’s quality standards. This includes basic photo retouching and color correction. High resolution photographs that are 240-600ppi at ~6000px or higher - 7-14MB 
  • Create photo albums: Curate and compile digital or physical photo albums  
  • Maintain equipment: Ensure that photography equipment is well-maintained and in working order. 
  • Collaborate with camp staff: Work with the camp director and activity leaders to ensure key moments are captured throughout the camp session. 
  • Photo distribution: Upload photos to the camp’s website, social media accounts, or digital galleries, and provide prints or digital copies to campers and their families. 
  • Document the camp’s story: Capture a mix of staged photos and candid shots that tell the story of the camp’s atmosphere and culture. 
  • Requesting minimum of 125 photos taken per day per camp 
  • Upload photos at the end of each day to the sub-folder that has the day/date specified 
  • Please upload ALL photos taken even if there are multiple shots that are similar as well as any staff or guest photos 
  • Please make sure to review the shot lists below when taking photos so that all categories are covered, as well as what subjects should be included 
  • BBYO retains commercial copyright to all files, and media, however personal portfolio use is permissible 
     

Overall Camp Responsibilities: 

  • “Being there” for participants to answer questions and provide support.  
  • Working as part of the overall staff team.  
  • Creating a community and a positive, enjoyable experience for participants.  
  • Staying attentive to health issues and the overall well-being of participants.
