Process Technician Internship - Summer 2025

Clean Crop stops crop loss at the source, removing pathogens from seeds before they are planted, increasing yields, reducing in-field waste, and improving food safety. Our Clean Current technology combines electricity and air to create cold plasma, inactivating a broad spectrum of contaminants from seed surfaces in a dry, automated, and residue-free process. 

We are seeking a hands-on Process Technician intern to join our team this summer! Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Process Technician will execute production runs of customer stock in the tolling facility, acquire and assist in the collection of performance data, and support production operations that meet the highest standards of excellence for customers. This an exciting opportunity to come in on the ground floor and help scale commercial operations in a fast-paced environment. The selected individual will work in a highly-collaborative team environment that requires excellent communication skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.

Program Dates: May 27, 2025 - August 1, 2025 

 

Role & Responsibilities: 

Tolling Operations: 

  • Assist in the execution of day-to-day tolling operations, including: production runs and product trials, entering treatment and QA/QC data into the database of record, and completing clean-in-place protocols. 
  • Operate equipment to execute product and process trials or initial production runs. 
  • Responsible for continuously monitoring and maintaining product quality based on established standards including visual, mechanical and electrical inspection of machinery and performance of customer stock.
  • Closely follow equipment and facility operational procedures, including for safety requirements. 
  • Assist with inventory management and processing of customer stock, under the direction of the QA/QC Manager. 
  • Proactively identify opportunities (and recommendations) for improving operational efficiency and productivity gains of the tolling operations.
  • Execute lab scale QA/QC  assessments of seedling germination and disease, in accordance with AOSA and ISTA standards. 

Facility Operations: 

  • Provide support to the Operations Team on various procurement, inventory management, and cost saving activities. 
  • Ensure all facilities meet company standards for safety and quality control during testing and operations. 
  • Support the expansion and improvement of physical infrastructure and the installation of production equipment.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled in an Associates Degree Program in or a minimum of three years’ experience in a manufacturing, agriculture, or production environment. 
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, including attention to product quality, multi-tasking, and problem solving.   
  • Familiarity with basic mechanical tools, equipment handling, and safety procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) or equivalent. 
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift up to 50lbs. 
  • Must be willing to work on their feet for periods greater 4 hours at a time.
  • Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company. 

Desired Experience and Skills: 

  • Familiarity with seed handling, production equipment, or agricultural processes preferred.
  • Basic comfort with hand tools or facility maintenance tasks.
  • Previous experience with germination testing or quality inspection protocols a plus.
