POSITION SUMMARY

Benchmark is seeking a highly motivated MBA Marketing Intern with a passion for B2B services marketing to support the development of our service offering strategy. This role will focus on conducting in-depth market analyses, identifying strategic opportunities, and developing key insights that drive competitive differentiation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and a passion for business and technology.

As the sole MBA intern on a relatively small marketing team, you’ll gain hands-on experience in strategic marketing and service offering development. You’ll work alongside senior leaders in commercial, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain roles on high-impact projects and gain exposure to the technology industry and service innovation. This internship provides an opportunity to influence and shape Benchmark’s competitive positioning in the market while developing key strategic skills in a dynamic and innovative environment.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform gap analysis using current service offering documentation, Voice of Customer surveys, interviews of commercial team leaders, and market research to assess current service capabilities versus market needs and customer expectations
  • Conduct SWOT/TOWS analysis to identify internal strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for Benchmark’s service offerings
  • Analyze external forces (e.g., market trends, regulatory changes, technological advancements) impacting the service landscape
  • Perform competitor analysis, benchmarking service offerings, go-to-market strategies, pricing, and differentiation, and monitor competitor movements
  • Define and refine target customer segments, aligning service strategies to industry-specific needs
  • Identify target companies that align with target segments
  • Develop value proposition statements and sales battlecards, providing sales and marketing teams with actionable insights to enhance positioning and competitive advantage and underpin go-to-market strategies
  • Synthesize research findings into clear, compelling recommendations and presentations to support executive decision-making

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education/Experience

  • Currently enrolled in an MBA program, preferably with a concentration in marketing, strategy, or business analytics
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing, strategy consulting, corporate strategy, engineering, technology development, or related fields preferred

Skills

  • Ability to interpret complex data, derive insights, and present findings in a structured, compelling manner
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in market research and competitive intelligence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally

Abilities

  • Should be able to work closely with sales, engineering, operations, and marketing colleagues, including senior-level management
  • Ability to listen to intended details attentively
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, governmental regulations, and financial reports

Work Environment

  • Office environment. Visits to factory sites and engineering sites may take place.
