Data Center Energy Efficiency/Business Development Specialist

Outreach and Business Development professional with demonstrated success in sales for data centers and high-volume energy savings generation.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

 

  • Work with the Electric Utility Program Allies to identify and submit projects for the energy efficiency programs, contributing to meet the energy KWh reduction goals.
  • Conduct pre and post- inspection of  energy efficiency projects such lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, Retro-Commissioning per program requirements and produce and submit reports on findings
  • Adhering to the safety requirements of the organization and the utility client
  • Promote the energy efficiency program to customers, trade allies and program stakeholders within the assigned territory
  • Understand and implement the company’s Outreach Process, including but not limited to:
    • Initiate new business with new data center and industrial customers through business-to-business efforts
    • Manage field time effectively with customer, Trade Ally, and program stakeholder visits
    • Develop and deliver presentations to create awareness about the program
    • Respond to customer inquiries and concerns by phone, electronically or in person to move projects towards completion
  • Work with utility customers to provide energy efficiency and the business activities of its customers
  • Identify and provide documentation of on-site opportunities and written summary reports for energy efficiency to customers and client/Program Manager, provide follow-up to as required
  • Enter data into spreadsheets and database to determine energy savings and to manage current projects which may also include collaborating with Energy Engineers as required
  • Maintain professional appearance and behavior appropriate for a representative of our organization and the utility
  • Build quick rapport with customers.  Quickly initiate conversations with customers on site and virtually regarding energy usage at the facility
  • Be able to work in a team atmosphere, and willing to collaborate on continuous improvement of operations year after year
  • When required, provide written summary reports directly to the customer, and summary reports to the client/Program Manager

 

  • Assist Program Manager in the training of new team members
  • Lead presentations promoting energy efficiency programs for targeted groups
  • Assist customers through the application process
  • All other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.  Technical school degree combined with demonstrated experience in electric/gas utility field will be considered.  Equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Previous outreach, technology, customer service, sales, or marketing experience


Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

 

  • Must be self-motivated, organized and have ability to prioritize workload
  • Work independently in a remote environment
  • Must be flexible to handle a wide variety and work at a fast pace
  • Ability to adapt to changing environment in the program when required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong data entry skills in entering information in tracking systems/databases
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with customers, clients and employees
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and solve practical problems
  • Knowledge of mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios

  • Be able to live in Northern Virginia/Central Virginia and meet with customers often.
