Assistant Director of Gap Year Incubator

# Voice Up Publishing - Assistant Director of Purpose Discovery Gap Year Program

## Position Overview
The Assistant Director of the Purpose Discovery Gap Year Incubator will serve as a key leader within Voice Up Publishing, providing strategic oversight, operational management, and programmatic guidance for our innovative 100% remote gap year experience. This role creates a critical link between the Student Board of Directors and the Founder, ensuring the program remains student-centered while achieving organizational objectives. The Assistant Director will help scale Voice Up's impact by maintaining program quality across multiple cohorts, supporting mentor relationships, and fostering a global community of purpose-driven leaders.

**Open to both professionals and current undergraduate/graduate students with exceptional leadership capabilities. Students may participate on a part-time basis with academic credit options available.**

## Core Responsibilities

### Program Leadership & Strategy
- Work directly with the Founder to implement and refine the program vision and strategic direction
- Serve as a liaison between the Student Board of Directors and the Founder, facilitating effective collaboration
- Provide oversight for the 6-month and 12-month program structures, ensuring alignment with Voice Up's core principles
- Develop systems for continuous improvement based on participant feedback and outcome metrics
- Support the development and implementation of new program initiatives across all focus areas

### Student Board of Directors Support
- Attend and co-facilitate weekly Wednesday meetings with the Student Board of Directors
- Provide mentorship and leadership development support to Student Board members
- Assist the Student Board in designing and coordinating Saturday sessions across all time slots
- Guide the Student Board in implementing innovative program enhancements
- Support Student Board members in their roles as peer mentors and community builders

### Mentorship Program Management
- Oversee the mentor matching process, ensuring quality connections between participants and mentors
- Develop training and resources for mentors across all project areas
- Monitor the effectiveness of weekly 1:1 coaching/mentorship sessions
- Facilitate regular mentor community gatherings for shared learning and support
- Create frameworks for mentors to track participant progress toward purpose discovery

### Curriculum & Content Development
- Oversee the development and refinement of curriculum across all monthly focus areas
- Ensure learning resources support the distinctive needs of diverse participants
- Create frameworks that allow for flexibility while maintaining program quality
- Coordinate with subject matter experts across Voice Up's initiatives
- Develop innovative approaches to purpose discovery that reflect Voice Up's principles

### Participant Experience & Support
- Foster an inclusive, psychologically safe environment for all program participants
- Develop systems to support participants through challenges and transitions
- Oversee the participant onboarding process and initial purpose discovery assessment
- Monitor participant engagement and provide intervention when needed
- Create opportunities for community building across diverse participant groups

### Program Operations
- Manage the flexible payment model and program engagement tracking
- Develop and implement program policies and procedures
- Coordinate the transition between monthly focus areas
- Oversee the administration of the three participation tracks (Volunteer, Academic Credit, and Paid Fellowship)
- Support partnerships with educational institutions for academic credit arrangements

### Growth & Development
- Support the expansion of the program to new participant demographics
- Develop strategies to scale program impact while maintaining quality
- Build relationships with potential organizational partners and sponsors
- Create systems to track program outcomes and success metrics
- Represent Voice Up at relevant events and in potential partnership discussions

## Required Qualifications
- Either:
 - Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience in program management, educational leadership, or related roles; OR
 - Current undergraduate or graduate student with exceptional leadership experience and demonstrated capacity for program management
- Demonstrated commitment to purpose-driven work and youth/young adult development
- Excellent remote communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with mentorship program development and implementation
- Strong facilitation and group leadership abilities
- Exceptional organizational and project management capabilities
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders across cultures and backgrounds

## Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with gap year programming or alternative educational models
- Understanding of purpose discovery frameworks and applications
- Experience working with student leadership bodies or governance structures
- Background in curriculum development and learning experience design
- Familiarity with global education initiatives and cross-cultural communication
- Experience with remote team management and digital collaboration tools
- Knowledge of social impact project development and assessment

## Position Details
- **Work Arrangement**: 100% remote with flexible scheduling
- **Hours**: 
 - Full-time option (40 hours/week) for professionals
 - Part-time option (15-20 hours/week) for current students with academic commitments
- **Reporting Structure**: Reports directly to the Founder of Voice Up
- **Compensation**: 
 - Competitive salary commensurate with experience for professionals
 - For students: Hourly rate of $20-30 per hour (similar to independent contractor model) or stipend option
 - Potential for academic credit arrangements for current students
