The Highland Local School District has an opening for a High School Science Teacher – Long Term Substitute, beginning on April 22, 2025 through May 29, 2025.
CERTIFICATION: AYA High School Comprehensive Science (7-12), AYA Physics/Physical Science (7-12), or Ohio Middle Childhood Licensure Science (4-9)
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Appropriate teaching certificate or license required.
2. Strong undergraduate grade point average – (preferable above 3.0/B average) from the institution granting the bachelor’s diploma with demonstrated expertise in both content and pedagogy.
3. Demonstrates understanding of developmental characteristics and needs of adolescent students.
4. Documented successful performance in the classroom as a teacher or pre-service educator.
5. Has a comprehensive understanding of the Ohio Model Curriculum.
6. Uses formative assessments to guide and inform instructional practice and decision-making.
7. Has a command of strategies to challenge and engage students through inquiry learning.
8. Differentiates for students at all levels of learning to promote high student achievement.
9. Will collaborate with colleagues to improve instruction and analyze student progress.
10. Possesses the knowledge, capabilities, and dispositions to develop as a reflective practitioner and continuous learner.
SALARY: The person selected to fill this position will be paid at the standard $100 per diem.
