Creative Writing / Content Marketing Internship - [Remote] - FOR CREDIT
Internship Description [For Credit OR Paid Per Piece]
Creative Writing / Content Marketing Internship
Do you know what it takes to make your writing stand out?
At Aiken House, we’ve designed our internship program to give students the skills they need to write content that will stand out from the crowd and be successful in the digital world.
We give our interns hands-on opportunities to explore types of real-world digital writing they may not have the chance to learn about in the classroom, and we help them build skills they will need as they apply for jobs, continue their education, or start a side hustle as a freelance writer.
We’re looking for writers and aspiring journalists who are passionate about educating readers through their own voice and personality. In this position, you’ll tap into your creativity and contribute content to blogs in a variety of industries such as fashion, lifestyle, tech, wellness, education, and more. You’ll learn how to turn your natural communication skills into content that will not only satisfy your readers’ curiosity but also create SEO value.
** NOTE: This internship is fully remote this semester **
With this internship, you will:
- Write effective content on a variety of topics that will be published online
- Use Webflow's website design and content management platform to design and post blogs
- Optimize content for the greatest SEO impact, which will separate you from a typical writer or journalist and help you in your future job hunt
- Participate in social media posting, commenting + providing feedback on peer work, and other pop-up projects related to digital writing and marketing
- Complete an end-of-semester project in which you create and pitch a content strategy for your own revenue-generating blog and receive expert feedback
If you would like to receive class / school credit for this internship, we will fill out any forms you have to help you get credit toward your degree for the work you do with us.
If you are not pursuing this internship for credit, this will be a paid internship so long as you make adequate progress in the internship program and the quality / consistency of your writing continues to meet the standards we discuss. This internship is paid on a per piece basis.
Why Work for Us?
Our interns get full time jobs
We are always looking for amazing writers to add to our freelance team, and we hire interns before considering external candidates. Whether you get hired by us or we help you get a job with one of our clients, our interns are rising stars. Former Aiken House interns now work for companies such as Wayfair, Ebay, Dick's, UPMC, Google, Niche, and more.
We know hundreds of tech company founders that are always hiring across the nation.
We can introduce you, help you hone your resume, and serve as a reference as well. In the past 20 years, we’ve made a habit of helping our friends land great jobs.
Plus, every piece of content you write is your real resume / portfolio that future employers will want to see, so that’ll help you get noticed.
We offer flexible hours
We don’t believe in being confined to an office space from 9-5 every single day-- that’s the old way things were done. Your work should be based on the spark of creativity that you get from within, which can happen anytime. To us, it’s all about getting the work done -- it doesn’t matter where you get it done.
We have a fun work environment
We work with lots of young, hungry writers, artists, and entrepreneurs. You'll meet some cool people from Pittsburgh and all over the place that are in it to win it, just like you. Our office is in the heart of Shadyside, which means it’s easy to get to from campus and when you need a break you can walk 10 steps to Starbucks, a juicery, or 100 other local shops / bars / restaurants / etc.
Not meeting up with us in person? No prob. You'll still get the experience in our semi-weekly group meetings where you'll interact with your internship supervisors and other writers!
** Office Hours available Mon-Fri 9-5 EST by appointment**
How to Apply!
You can send us your resume if you’d like. Example pieces of content would be even better. Or if you aren’t too proud of either, write us an email with why you think you have what it takes for this position, and we’ll gladly read it and reply back with feedback.
Simply apply on Handshake, or reach out to our Internship Director, well... directly :-)
