Community Engagement Specialist

CCAP Mission Statement - To empower all people and communities, challenged by poverty as well as social and cultural barriers, through advocacy, education, and access to high quality health and human services. 

 

This position will require travel to the following locations: Cranston, Pawtucket, Providence and Kent County. 

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Community Engagement Specialist will be responsible for fostering relationships and managing communication between CCAP Learn to Earn and community partners in the interest of facilitating meaningful work experience and career exploration opportunities for youth ages 14-24. The role involves creating and maintaining a robust database, social media presence, and outreach initiatives to support youth in internship and career exploration opportunities.

 

WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • This is a full-time, 35-hour-per-week position. Part-time or decreased hours to be determined by the Vice President of Family Development.
  • Due to the nature of the job, this individual must be flexible with their schedule to accommodate the client population and community events.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours for community events
  • May be required to work at any CCAP location.

 

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Degree in Communications, Marketing or related field, or relevant experience in these fields
  • Experience in community outreach, social media management, and data management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suites, Canva and social media platforms
  • Valid driver’s license and active vehicle auto insurance
  • Provide/maintain all required immunizations and/or vaccinations
  • Complete all required background checks

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.

Include but may not be limited to the following

  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive database to track employer partnerships and available internship positions, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information for youth placement.
  • Develop and execute social media strategies to promote Learn to Earn programs and events, enhancing visibility and engagement.
  • Use Canva or other design software to create dynamic social media marketing materials to engage the community and prospective youth
  • Build and sustain relationships with local businesses, organizations, and stakeholders to secure internship and career exploration opportunities for youth participants.
  • Develop strategies to research and anticipate emerging career fields to ensure youth are connected to upcoming workforce needs
  • Represent Learn to Earn at community events throughout all catchment areas: Act as an ambassador for Learn to Earn, attending and participating in community events to promote the program and foster community engagement.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and refine processes that enhance the experience for both youth participants and employer partners, ensuring efficiency and satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL EFFORT/ENVIRONMENT:

The employee frequently is required to use hands, fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Transportation is necessary at times. This position requires the individual to have their own transportation, a current unrestricted license to drive, and documented auto insurance. Travel within catchment areas required. All staff are expected to demonstrate cybersecurity awareness and adhere to test practices. This includes familiarity with phishing emails, creating strong passwords, and participating in regular cybersecurity training sessions.
