Workforce Development Training Center Coordinator

Scope of Job Responsibilities: 

 

WomenRising’s Employment and Training Center assists residents in their job search, job placement, and occupational training needs by providing career development services.  In addition, it provides training in the transition from welfare to work by providing life skills/job readiness instruction. 

The Employment and Training Center Coordinator will be responsible for overall coordination and instruction for the recruitment of students, employers, and corporations, guest speakers, supervision of work assignments, and case management including record keeping.

 

The Employment and Training Center will also be responsible for supervising additional program staff, such as part-time assistant(s), interns, and/or volunteers.  In addition, the Coordinator is expected to partner with other programs and departments at WomenRising in an effort to assist clients in addressing the full range of barriers affecting their ability to become economically self-sufficient.

 

Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive technical assistance in developing customized occupational training programs 
  • Implement and comply with all government regulations relevant to workforce development programs
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly statistical reports based on funding sources guidelines 
  • Engage in the coordination and preparation of monitoring site visits from government representatives
  • Register Training Center clients and provide job search, resume, and interview assistance
  • Identify potential job opportunities for clients and maintain job postings
  • Recruit clients and provide instruction related to the Job Readiness/Life Skills curriculum, including editing or revising lesson plans as needed, coordinating workshops with guest speakers, job fairs, etc...
  • Develop and place clients in internships within WomenRising, Inc. and at community sites.   
  • Assist clients in developing short employability action plans 
  • Case management, including identifying barriers and referring clients for appropriate assessment, education, training, and social services.
  • Maintain records and collect information needed for the evaluation of programs.
  • Maintain a knowledge base of community resources and organize field trips.
  • Track client job placement status

 

Qualifications:

  • B.A/B.S. (social work, psychology, education, or related field preferred).
  • 2-3+ years experience in case management.
  • 2+ years experience in workforce development; particularly in training/teaching adults job readiness/life skills.
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal, and good supervisory and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills (including the ability to manage multiple tasks, and maintain timely, accurate, and thorough records).
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, and to be flexible.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to how particular issues affect women and a commitment to developing the capacity of unemployed and under-educated women to enter the workforce.   
  • Computer literacy, including MS Word,  Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in job placement a plus. 
  • Marketing Employment and Training Center Services 
  • Knowledge of Hudson County and workforce development programs preferred.
