Marketing Associate

Marketing Associates are the creative force behind SPO’s brand, playing a key role in developing, executing, and monitoring marketing initiatives that drive brand awareness, donor engagement, student participation, and mission growth. This role is hands-on and fast-paced – one day you might be writing and designing content that fuels fundraising campaigns, the next you're behind a camera capturing powerful moments. Whether it’s content creation, social media management, graphic design, videography, or photography, you’ll bring SPO’s mission to life through dynamic storytelling and strategic marketing. Responsibilities

Marketing Associates play a vital role on the marketing team, contributing across multiple areas to support the department’s needs and gain well-rounded experience. While they will work across different areas initially, there may be opportunities to specialize as the department evolves. This role requires strong collaboration across departments, ensuring marketing efforts align with organizational goals and effectively support various teams. Responsibilities will likely include a blend of the following:

  1. Social Media
    1. Plan and maintain content calendars to ensure consistent, mission-driven messaging across social platforms
    2. Contribute to and support channel strategies for growing and optimizing social media
    3. Create and curate engaging graphic, video, and written content tailored for each platform
    4. Manage and grow our social media presence by posting consistently, responding to comments and messages, and fostering community engagement
    5. Equip and mobilize SPO missionaries, students, and ambassadors to amplify social media efforts on the ground
    6. Proactively gather, capture, and share student and missionary stories through social media, using video, photography, and written content to highlight the impact of SPO’s mission
    7. Develop and implement a paid advertising strategy to increase reach, engagement, and conversions
    8. Track and analyze key performance metrics to optimize content strategy and improve engagement
    9. Monitor trends by researching platform updates, emerging social media best practices, and creative new ways to engage our audience

       
  2. Videography and Photography
    1. Shoot and edit engaging video content for social media platforms, including: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, ensuring videos are optimized for each platform
    2. Plan and storyboard video projects by developing creative concepts, shot lists, and scripts in collaboration with the team
    3. Produce high-quality videos for campus-specific initiatives, like Fan Into Flame, Household, Welcome Week, and other mission-driven projects
    4. Create compelling video content for fundraising campaigns, donor engagement, and key SPO events
    5. Film and edit interviews and testimonials with students, missionaries, and donors to highlight SPO’s mission in action
    6. Assist with in-studio productions, including lighting, sound, and set design to enhance video quality
    7. Maintain and organize video and photography equipment, ensuring all gear is in good working condition
    8. Track and analyze video performance metrics to refine storytelling and strategy
    9. Capture and edit high-impact photography and videography at major SPO events to showcase mission in action
    10. Capture and archive high-quality B-roll footage for use across multiple projects and campaigns

       
  3. Branding, Graphic Design, and More
    1. Maintain and update website content to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with SPO’s mission and branding while tracking key performance data to optimize engagement and user experience
    2. Design high-impact materials for the Advancement team (including fundraising event assets, annual reports, mailings, resources for Donor Engagement Officers), ensuring accessibility and visual clarity and tracking engagement metrics to refine design strategies and maximize donor impact
    3. Create compelling visual materials and branded templates for departments across SPO including brochures, posters, training materials, small group booklets, formation materials, merch, etc,
    4. Support major events by developing branding, signage, stage designs, and promotional graphics that enhance the experience
    5. Manage and oversee Canva accounts, approvals, and templates to maintain brand consistency while empowering team-wide creativity
    6. Design digital campaigns, providing graphics for social media, email marketing, and website promotions integrating infographics and data visualization as needed
    7. Design and manage email marketing campaigns for newsletters, event promotions, and mission-driven initiatives, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement across audiences
    8. Provide brand training and guidance to staff, missionaries, and student leaders as needed to ensure consistency in SPO’s visual identity
    9. Maintain and evolve SPO’s brand identity and by ensuring consistency across all visuals while exploring creative opportunities for new sub-brands
    10. Organize and maintain a digital asset library to ensure easy access to past graphic design work, photos, video content, and other creative work

       
  4. Personal Fundraising (Mission Partner Development)
    1. Introduce potential donors to SPO and invite them into financial partnership in support of your salary and the mission of SPO
    2. Build relationships with MPD donors and witness to them through regular communication, including newsletters and other updates
    3. Connect MPD donors to the broader SPO mission through invitation to events and other opportunities for partnership

  • Proficient in Adobe Suite, Canva, and comfortable with video editing
  • Professional experience in content creation and/or event production, including photography, videography, and digital media
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and variable schedule
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently is essential
  • Passionate about evangelization and discipleship
  • Live as a witness to authentic Catholic Christian discipleship through a life of regular prayer, active participation in the Sacraments, and behavior consistent with the moral teachings of the Church


Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:

  • Campus ministry or university outreach experience, prior experience with SPO is preferred
