Research & Development Technician II

Archer Executive Search is a Recruiting Firm specializing in the CPG industry. We are partnering with a food manufacturing client located in Brenham, TX to recruit for a Research & Development Technician II:

 

Summary

  • Actively participates in R&D initiatives.
  • Accurately compounds formulas and conducts physical analytical measurements.
  • Executes sensory panels, shelf-life evaluations, and manages data analysis/reporting.
  • Engages in food safety, product development, innovation, optimization, and processing tasks.

 

Essential Functions

  • Manage timelines and activities for multiple product development projects across categories (e.g., dressings, marinades, coffee, baked goods).
  • Execute R&D testing plans in support of company objectives.
  • Develop products from concept to commercialization, meeting cost and time constraints.
  • Perform analyses using lab equipment (e.g., pH meters, refractometers, viscometers).
  • Formulate and scale products for new launches and improvements.
  • Conduct stability testing for products and packaging to confirm shelf life.
  • Lead product development projects, including prototyping, sourcing, packaging, and regulatory compliance.
  • Test and source new raw materials from vendors.
  • Organize in-house sensory evaluations and incorporate consumer insights for product improvement.
  • Generate nutritional labels compliant with market regulations.
  • Apply knowledge of food labeling and technology.
  • Mentor technicians in essential skills and provide technical support to various departments.
  • Serve as backup for Food Scientist and R&D Tech I.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: M.S./B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
  • Experience: 1-3 years in food/beverage manufacturing, lab, or R&D (FDA/USDA regulated) with formulation and troubleshooting experience.
  • Masters Degree may be considered in lieu of experience
  • Team-oriented and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and comfortable with extended hours.
  • Valid driver’s license for sample delivery.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
