Assistant Teacher - Upper Grades

When you join our team you will:

  • Directly educate our students in our 3rd through 5th grade classrooms (working with students one-on-one, leading daily small group lessons, overseeing breaks and recess, etc.).
  • Assist the classroom with administrative tasks (photocopying, attendance, grading, paperwork, etc.).
  • Supervise play indoor and/or outdoor for safety and engagement.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with the lead classroom teacher, Director of Learning Design and Student Success, and the Heads of School.
  • Be a vital piece of the Cascadia puzzle in education, classroom management, and student safety.
  • Set an example of growth and learning for the students.
     

We would love to talk with you if you possess the following skills and experience:

  • Certification to teach in Washington State or currently working toward certification and/or 3+ years experience in a Montessori setting.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with families, coworkers, and students.
  • Desire to instill a sense of learning through discovery and play.
  • Team mindset to serve and assist on various tasks to ensure all work is completed.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain.
  • Basic proficiency with computers and classroom technology.
  • Physically able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, work indoors or outdoors, be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in activities with children.

Hours and schedule:

This is an on-site position at Cascadia’s Redmond campus with a Monday through Friday schedule that follows the school calendar. When school is in session, working hours are generally 8:30am to 3:00pm. The working days for the upcoming school year will run from August 25th, 2025 through June 16th, 2026, with up to 20 hours in early August for planning and onboarding.
