
Plant and Controls Engineering Intern
Position Summary
The Plant and Controls Engineering Intern will support the Engineering Department in various functions, including Electrical, Controls, Mechanical, and other Plant Engineering related tasks. This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing environment specifically in the realm of automation, mechanical and electrical systems and contribute to projects that impact the department.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist in troubleshooting, developing, and maintaining PLC programs on various platforms. Assist and learn how to integrate production equipment into internally supported operations system.
- Assist in programming and control VFD’s via PLC controls and/or locally as needed.
- Learn to read electrical, mechanical, And hydraulic schematics.
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical systems
- Ability to work alone or with others depending on the task but always willing to work in cross-functional teams
- Assist and learn CMMS systems (E-maintenance a plus).
- Able and willing to travel to support sites if needed, actual travel needs would be less than 10%.
- Perform tasks as assigned by controls engineering, project engineering and maintenance systems engineering
Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in electrical, mechanical, controls engineering or related field
- Prior experience in an manufacturing setting is a plus
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Good computer/systems skills – MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook).
- Knowledge of Control Logics preferred.
- Good cooperation and collaboration skills.
- Attention to detail, high energy, self-motivated and self-reliant.
- Organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to interact well with all personality types.
