Marketing Data Strategist

What You’ll Do
At Mudd Advertising, we power data-driven marketing for some of the biggest names in automotive retail. As a Marketing Data Strategist, you’ll be at the center of that engine — transforming raw consumer data into targeted advertising lists and ROI-rich matchback reports.
This isn’t your average spreadsheet job. You’ll be building custom marketing audiences, analyzing campaign performance, and helping scale new data initiatives with Equifax and other big-name partners. We’re moving fast, and we need someone who’s as comfortable filtering a million rows in Excel as they are building SQL queries or dabbling in Python scripts.
 

Responsibilities
• Build and segment marketing lists using Excel, Access, and other internal tools
• Prepare and deliver matchback reports to measure campaign ROI
• Clean, organize, and validate data from multiple sources
• Collaborate with the sales team to understand targeting needs and deadlines
• Troubleshoot campaign issues, data inconsistencies, and list requests
• Assist with process automation and explore new tools that improve data workflows
• Help scale and support marketing initiatives using Experian and Equifax datasets
• Document procedures and maintain accuracy across all reporting


What You Bring
• 1–3 years of experience in a data-focused role (or strong internship experience)
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data cleaning)
• Familiarity with Microsoft Access or other relational database tools
• Exposure to SQL or Python – and a willingness to learn more
• Solid understanding of data quality principles and marketing metrics (matchbacks, response rates, etc.)
• Strong attention to detail – accuracy isn’t optional here
• Ability to communicate data findings to non-technical stakeholders
• A cool head under pressure — this team moves fast, and deadlines matter


Bonus Points
• Experience with Looker Studio, Tableau, R, or other BI tools
• Exposure to CRM integrations or digital marketing platforms
• Interest in predictive modeling, audience scoring, or machine learning
• Automotive industry or direct mail experience
