Description:
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Media Communications Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital design and media technologies, with proficiency in a wide range of software and tools. This role involves teaching students the technical skills and creative processes needed to excel in the digital design field. The Media Communications Teacher will guide students through hands-on projects, fostering their growth and preparing them for exciting careers in media communications. Teaching also to include Integrated Math, Science, and ELA in collaboration with teachers certified in these academic areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction and Curriculum Development: Teach courses in digital design, advertising, illustration, photography, video, audio technology, web design, animation, game design, and marketing.
- Student Engagement and Support: Conduct hands-on projects, guide portfolio creation, and provide individualized feedback.
- Photography and Videography Instruction: Teach fundamentals of photography and videography, including studio sessions and editing.
- Web and Game Design Instruction: Educate students on web design principles and game development.
- Digital Advertising and Composition: Teach pre-designing advertisements, writing copy, and applying compositional techniques.
- Professional Development and Ethics: Instruct on media ethics, copyright laws, and professional conduct.
Salary: $41,970
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, Premiere, Audition, Muse, Fuse, After Effects, Animate).
- Strong understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory.
- Experience in teaching or training in digital design and media technologies.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design and media projects.
Education, Experience and/or Certifications:
- Minimum Qualifications: NYS Teacher Certification or ability to obtain. Applicable certification areas include:
- Media Communications 7-12
- Commercial Art 7-12
- Printing and Lithography 7-12
- Technology Education
- Industry experience and/or degree in Media Communications, Graphic Design, or a related job field.
- Relevant teaching experience.
- Adobe Certifications in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Visual Design Specialist.
