The principle objective of this role is to serve as a systems and operations specialist who ensures consistent implementation and communication of school-wide expectations, supports interventions, and collaborates across teams to solve complex problems involving student needs, staff support, and school-wide functionality. In addition, they will collaborate closely with our other Deans of Students regarding student behavior management.

Qualifications

● Administrative certification required

● Wisconsin Principal Certification preferred

● Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families

● Commitment to equity, social justice, and culturally and linguistically responsive practices

● Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) are strongly preferred

Core Responsibilities

1. Systems and Operations Leadership

● Serve as the lead building safety coordinator - in collaboration with the District Safety and Security Coordinator - ensuring protocols are clear, practiced, and consistently followed.

● Project manage the rollout of new systems and interventions, ensuring alignment across school departments and monitoring implementation.

● Maintain and monitor school-wide attendance data and procedures, including identifying trends and proposing strategic responses.

● Assist in the coordination of student attendance policies and procedures.

● Lead large-scale investigations that span multiple school centers or grade levels in collaboration with fellow administrators.

● Manage student parking policies and procedures.

● Follow laws and regulations regarding student behavioral intervention and can provide leadership to assist teams in addressing these issues.

● Know the laws and regulations related to the implementation of IDEA in programming and service delivery.

2. Data and Communication

● Collect and analyze data on student behavior referrals and outcomes to identify trends and inform system-level adjustments in partnership with the building Data and Assessment Coordinator.

● Coordinate regular center stand-up meetings and school-wide debriefs following significant incidents as needed.

● Design and coordinate regular student-facing media and lessons that reinforce school expectations, values, and behavioral norms with collaboration with fellow administrators and teachers.

3. Team Collaboration

● Work in collaboration with administration, student services, and instructional teams to identify and address systemic barriers to student success.

● Participate in school-wide planning, problem-solving, and development of inclusive practices that reflect the values of equity and belonging.

● Support the development and facilitation of professional learning related to systems, safety, and operational best practices.

● Establish and maintain relationships with students and families to promote common understandings.

● Serve as LEA representative at IEP meetings with parents, community members and instructional teams, as needed.

● Facilitate resolution of issues or differences amongst team members.

● Use data and implement strategies to proactively address systems barriers, articulate methods and practices, and seek to implement others, which could improve effective partnerships between families, schools, and/or community agencies or members.

● Work with administration and other leadership in scheduling and resource management.

● Work in collaboration with the administrative team for supervision of student events.

● Work with Center Deans to provide direct intervention in resolving behavioral events or issues within the school environment including application of behavioral consequences, code of conduct application, crisis intervention, etc.

4. Universal Learning Community Supports

● With the administrative team, share the responsibility for ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of students.

● Demonstrate knowledge regarding factors impacting student learning including second language acquisition, poverty, transience, etc.

● Assist building leadership in developing professional learning opportunities based upon building needs.

● Demonstrate willingness to learn within the building learning community.

● In collaboration with the school’s Data and Assessment Coordinator aid in data collection, analysis and progress monitoring.

● In collaboration with the school's data and assessment coordinator, use data to assess barriers and develop universal plans to address identified barriers.

● Promote cultural competence, inclusive practices, tolerance, and respect for diversity in interactions with staff and the school community by example and through staff in-services.

● Guide staff in meeting fundamental legal obligations under FERPA, OCR and DPI.
