- Involved on campus in student organizations, athletics or within the community
- A GPA of 2.5 or higher
If so, New York Life is seeking full-time, U.S. based college students*1 to join our College Internship Program, where students will learn what it’s like to build a career as a Financial Professional with a Fortune 100 company. As a pre-requisite to joining the College Internship Program, you will study and pass the state life and health license exam after which you will be contracted with New York Life as a College Agent Intern. We will help you get set up to take the state exam. Once you pass, and become contracted with us, you will be part of a hands-on program where day-to-day you will:
- Learn the Sales Process from beginning to end with an emphasis on finding prospective clients
- Learn how to work with New York Life Systems such as CRM (Customer Relationship Management), GuideMe, Financial calculators and e-Learning platforms
- Learn how to create a business plan, marketing plan and build target markets
- Shadow current Financial Professionals
You will begin building your own client base by:
- Scheduling appointments and meetings with prospective clients
- Learning how to analyze the information gathered from prospective clients through a detailed financial analysis
- Making product recommendations to help individuals, families and business owners reach their financial goals
- Aiming to reach set sales goals
Application Requirements:
- Must be willing to study for and take the state Life and Health License Exams
- Must be available 10 to 15 hours per week after passing the Life and Health Exams
- Must be willing to attend all scheduled meeting and training sessions once licensed
- Must have a willingness to learn and a desire to excel
As a licensed College Agent Intern with New York Life, you will have the ability to build a practice where you are in business for yourself, but not by yourself while making a lasting impact on your clients’ lives by helping them set and reach their financial goals. There will be mentorship opportunities available as well as opportunities to qualify for awards and incentives. In addition, you will learn about future opportunities in Management.
Compensation
New York Life will value and reward your hard work and success. You will receive a monetary stipend of $540 upon completion of the licensing requirement. Once you are licensed, you will be contracted with New York Life as a College Agent Intern and your compensation will be commission-based, dependent on your own sales and determined through the ledger process*2 for the remainder of the internship.
