Youth Employment Development and Communications Intern

Girls Inc. of Chicago (GIOC) is proud to be leading a community focused initiative: The BOLD Futures Youth Employment Partnership. For this important youth-led and youth-focused work, GIoC will be hiring and paying 1 young adult between the ages of 16-24 years old to support the Development Department. Employment will be for 10 weeks (April  21st-June 27th) at approximately 20 hours/week. Girls Inc. of Chicago's traditional work hours are Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm. Selected applicants must be able to work within these traditional work hours.

The Development and Communications Intern will assist with fundraising and communications efforts, including content creation, social media coordination, event support, and grant writing and prospecting. This position offers hands-on experience in nonprofit development and communications. 

Key Responsibilities: Create content for newsletters, social media, and email campaigns. Draft stories highlighting program impact and donor engagement. Coordinate social media posts, ensuring content aligns with the organization’s voice and goals. Take photos at events and programs for social media and promotional use. Assist with event logistics, materials, and follow-up. Assist with writing grant proposals, reports, and prospecting.
