About Us

At Roman Avery Academy, we believe that children learn best through exploration, play, and hands-on discovery in a nurturing, nature-rich environment. Our preschool program fosters curiosity, creativity, and early academic skills through phonics-based literacy, content-rich stories, imaginative play, and outdoor learning. With a 3.5-acre outdoor learning lab featuring bunnies, ducks, chickens, and a full garden, our students engage in real-world experiences that build knowledge and foster a lifelong love of learning.

 

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated Preschool Teacher who embraces our nature-

based, play-centered approach to education. If you believe in fostering a love for learning

through hands-on experiences, outdoor exploration, and creative play, we would love to hear from you!

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans that

balance structured learning with play-based exploration.

  • Foster early literacy skills through phonics instruction, storytelling, and content-rich

texts.

  • Provide hands-on learning experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and

problem-solving.

  • Incorporate nature-based learning, including gardening, animal care, and outdoor

discovery, into daily activities.

  • Promote social-emotional development by encouraging independence, collaboration,

and self-expression.

  • Facilitate sensory and motor skill development through movement, hands-on

activities, and outdoor play.

  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that supports all

learners.

  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student

progress and classroom activities with our parent/teacher app.

  • Work collaboratively with fellow teachers and staff to uphold the school’s mission and philosophy.

 

Qualifications:

  • State teaching certification (or willingness to obtain certification) in Early Childhood

Education or a related field.

  • Experience in play-based, nature-based, or Montessori-inspired learning

environments is a plus, but not required.

  • Passion for outdoor education, hands-on learning, and fostering early academic

growth, required.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with

students, families, and colleagues.

  • Ability to adapt lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Enthusiasm for engaging children in movement, sensory exploration, and real-

world experiences.
