General Manager

Traer Municipal Utilities (TMU), a supplier of electricity, gas, water and wastewater services in Traer, Iowa, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of General Manager. Candidates must possess exceptional communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, and have a personal commitment to providing excellent customer service. 

Traer Municipal Utilities management oversees the electric, gas, water, and wastewater treatment utilities and provides reliable and affordable utility services to its residential, commercial and farm customers. 

The General Manager reports to the five person Board of Trustees and is responsible for carrying out the Board policy and directives. Candidates must have a minimum of five years experience in the utility industry and preferably have experience at the management level. Candidates must have broad electric utility experience and knowledge that includes such areas as operations and safety, strategic planning, team building, and member communications as well as the required regulatory compliance and reporting. Experience in or knowledge of operations of diesel generating units is desirable.
