JOB DESCRIPTION

Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Pricing Analyst to join our Regulatory Affairs team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Pricing Analyst do for us? 

A Pricing Analyst provides support for Idaho Power Company's (IPC) various regulatory activities including economic analyses, regulatory ratemaking and compliance filings, pricing of regulated services and conducting regulatory research. The successful candidate will work with direction within a team environment to prepare and present analyses and conduct studies that support the goals and objectives of the Pricing team, which will include developing pricing recommendations related to the Company’s service offerings and supporting other projects as assigned.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE 

Knowledge of:

  • Cost analysis, financial and economic analysis techniques

Preferred:

  • Utility rate-making practices and procedures
  • IPC or other electric utility operations
  • Regulatory commission practices and procedures
  • Issues pertinent to the changing electric utility industry
  • IPC's rules, regulations, and rates

Skills in:

  • Use of personal computers and commonly used business software applications
  • Verbal and written communication
  • Analytical research

Ability to:

  • Prepare documents detailing and defending various issues
  • Perform analytical research and solve analytical problems utilizing Microsoft Excel
  • Prepare and deliver presentations
  • Work effectively with other departments and personnel
  • Work effectively in a team environment


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Entry Pricing Analyst:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Business Administration, or related field

OR

  • Graduation by May 23rd, 2025

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in related field

Experience:

  • N/A

Preferred:

  • 2 or more years of experience performing cost, financial or economic analyses

 

Pricing Analyst:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Business Administration, or related field

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in related field

Experience:

  • 2 or more years of experience performing cost, financial or economic analyses
  • A directly related advanced degree may be substituted for 1 year of experience

Preferred:

  • 1 - 3 years of experience conducting pricing analyses, cost of service studies, and other utility pricing related analyses

 

Senior Pricing Analyst:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in related field

Experience:

  • 5 or more years of professional level work experience performing and presenting detailed economic, financial, cost, or related analyses
  • A directly related advanced degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience

Preferred:

  • Experience testifying before regulatory agencies

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is a sedentary job requiring working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Primary focus of regulatory activities is internal determination of regulatory policy and strategy. With the level of experience expected at this level, the analyst provides input on policy analyses and strategies. Also at this level, the analyst participates in regulatory and customer interactions. Analysts at this level are developing their presentation skills first within internal groups and committees and later with officers and external groups.
