Community Engagement Intern
As the Community Engagement Intern at Three Rivers Park District you will assist staff in introducing new audiences to camping, biking and other nature-based activities. This role focuses on achieving our vision of connecting every person to nature every day.
Interns in this role will start each workday at French Regional Park but will work primarily at other park locations and even outside of the Park District helping to facilitate activities to audiences of all ages. Interns will receive training to help lead a variety of recreation activities, will help with gear maintenance and management, and will also represent Three Rivers at community events talking with the public about opportunities available through the parks.
This role is a part of our Pathways Internship program. Pathways internships are paid opportunities offered by Three Rivers Park District that provide young people, particularly those facing barriers to employment, real-world experiences to explore a career in parks and recreation. The Pathways Summer Internship Program provides an opportunity to explore a specific career area within the Park District and build career readiness skills at Development Days throughout the summer. Work Where You Play
You will work with Park District staff to gain professional experience and explore a potential career in parks and recreation. This position will provide opportunities to gain valuable on-the-job skills, develop professional networks, and prepare for meaningful careers in parks, recreation, and local government.
Program Details:
- Program runs from June through August.
- Pathways interns will work approximately 20 hours a week.
- Three Rivers Park District operates seven days a week. Depending on your position, you may work exclusively on weekdays (M-F), or you may have some weekend shifts.
- Pathways interns will make a minimum of $15 an hour. Some positions pay a higher rate.
- The Three Rivers Park District Foundation provides transportation scholarships to Pathways Interns where the ability to find reliable transportation impacts their participation in a Pathways Internship or activities associated with their internship.
