SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

Must build strong, productive relationships with trade partners and all McKee Homes departments. Supports process improvement and implementation to ensure quality performance and enhanced quality of life for McKee associates and McKee trade partners. As a McKee team member, the Construction Intern is also responsible for providing a premier customer experience by planning, directing and coordinating activities pertaining to the construction of homes in accordance with company policies and building code while staying on schedule and under budget. This position seeks to provide incredible and unique customer service to home buyers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct on-site walks of homes to verify schedule accuracy and project progress.
  • Review and update project management systems including Marks Systems, ITK, and Field Tracker.
  • Communicate effectively with trade partners through email, text, phone calls, and in-person meetings.
  • Participate in New Home Orientations alongside homeowners to ensure a positive handover experience.
  • Attend trade partner meetings to discuss community progress and participate in monthly safety training sessions.
  • Coordinate with local inspection departments and shadow an inspector during a major inspection to gain firsthand experience.
  • Manage a home build from groundbreaking through to the sheetrock phase, including overseeing all public and private inspections.
  • Analyze failed inspections or noted concerns and present a plan of action to a mentor to address and resolve issues.
  • After tile installation, take ownership of the home through the McKee Homes Quality Walk Certification process, ensuring all standards are met prior to closing.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a construction site environment. This role is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time temporary, seasonal position. Days and hours of work are Monday through

Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

TRAVEL

Regular travel is expected between construction job sites and to and from home office, most trips under 2 hours. Other locations as directed.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Some progress (1-3 years) in an Associates or Bachelor’s Degree program in Construction Management or other related field, preferred


 

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Reliable vehicle with minimum state required insurance required
